The Eli and Edythe Broad Art Museum in East Lansing MI is a gem of an art museum. Located at 547 E Circle Dr, East Lansing, MI 48824. The former Kresge Art Gallery was closed down in 2007, but the Broad Museum’s carapace will crack more in the coming year, revealing a much more diverse collection. The next director of the museum has a daunting task: to balance visitor appeal with content that challenges its visitors. If you’re looking for a hands-on exhibit, you might want to check out the Impression 5 museum, an interactive educational center in Lansing. The exhibits engage all five senses and are designed to encourage exploration. You can even conduct your own experiments and workshops in the museum’s chemistry lab. Children under 12 are admitted for free. The museum is open Thursday through Sunday.

If you’re visiting the institute on a whim, you can find several outdoor spots in the area. Hawk Island Park offers a mile-and-a-half-long trail, a playground, picnic area, sports fields, and lawn games. There are also beaches, fishing docks, and a splash pad. There’s even a sledding hill for children.

After Michael Rush left as director of the Broad in March 2015, the search committee gathered a list of candidates for the director position. Its advisory board and staff have been surveyed to narrow down the list. Two rounds of interviews will take place before recommending the candidates to Samuel L. Stanley. If a candidate already holds a job at the Broad, their name will most likely be retained.

For a more immersive art experience, you can also visit the R.E. Olds Transportation Museum, which celebrates the history of Oldesmobile. The museum features over 60 models and authentic memorabilia.
