Overview

A Lansing Car Accident Lawyer Focused on Serious Injury Cases

Matthew R. Clark concentrates much of his practice on serious car accident cases and motor vehicle injury cases where the outcome can have long term consequences for injured individuals and their families. These cases often involve disputed liability, multiple insurance carriers, complex medical evidence, permanent injuries, and aggressive defense strategies.

Matthew approaches each case individually rather than relying on standardized workflows or early settlement pressure. From the outset, he evaluates liability, medical causation, available insurance coverage, damages, and litigation risk with the expectation that a case may need to proceed beyond pre suit negotiations.

That preparation first approach is especially important in serious car accident cases, where insurers may dispute fault, minimize the extent of an injury, or undervalue the long term impact on a client’s life. Matthew builds cases around the evidence necessary to create leverage in negotiation and prepare for litigation when a fair resolution cannot be reached.

Education and Credentials

Education, Trial Training, and Professional Background

Matthew received his undergraduate education at Michigan State University, where he studied Business and Pre Law through the Eli Broad College of Business. He later earned his Juris Doctor from Michigan State University College of Law.

During law school, Matthew received the Jurisprudence Award for Legal Writing and Research and was selected for the Geoffrey Fieger Trial Practice Institute, an intensive two year program focused on courtroom advocacy, witness examination, evidence, and trial presentation.

Following law school, Matthew clerked for the Honorable Judge Jordan at the 54B District Court in East Lansing. That experience provided direct exposure to courtroom procedure, motion practice, litigation strategy, and judicial decision making before he entered private practice.

Litigation Approach

Direct Representation, Thorough Preparation, and Accountability

Matthew R. Clark personally manages the major stages of each case he accepts, from investigation and case strategy through negotiation, litigation, and trial preparation. His work includes identifying liable parties, developing medical and damages evidence, coordinating with expert witnesses, conducting depositions, negotiating with insurance carriers, and representing clients in court when necessary.

In serious car accident and injury cases, liability, medical causation, insurance coverage, and the extent of future damages may all be disputed. Matthew prepares these cases with the expectation that important facts must be supported by evidence rather than assumed or left to an insurer’s valuation.

That preparation creates leverage during settlement negotiations and allows Matthew to make informed decisions about when litigation is necessary to pursue a fair result.
