Alexis’s impressive academic performance at Indiana University Northwest (IUN) along with her essay highlighting the commitment to giving back to students in need made her application standout from the rest. In her first semester attending IUN, she along with her sister founded a food pantry after realizing many students were unable to buy groceries and instead using that money to buy textbooks. The name of the pantry is RedHawks Nest and it serves as a resource to current students, faculty, and staff on campus.
She states that “From the RedHawks Nest, I proved to myself that one person can make an impact. Over my past four years at IUN, the RedHawks Nest has been my way of giving back to the community; however, I wish to remain active in altruistic projects while a student in law school and even after I graduate with my law degree, and I believe holding such a respected degree will allow me to do this on a larger scale.”
Alexis will be attending the DePaul University College of Law and plans to graduate in 2023 while studying in the part-time program and working as an Enterprise Risk management Analyst for Centier Bank which will allow her to reduce the amount of loans accumulated from Law School. Her goal is to restore hope to those who feel defeated or forgotten along with showing humanity the beauty in compassion!
The Clark Law Office would like to thank all those that submitted an application and participated in our 2019 scholarship. We had our largest amount of applications ever and choosing a winner was not an easy task with so many deserving law students applying!
