According to residents, police reports, and news coverage, there are 2 intersections located in Eaton County, MI that are the most dangerous.  They have the most crashes, injuries, and deaths of any intersections over the last few years including multiple personal injury lawsuits and deaths.

The first intersection is the intersection of Island Highway and Stewart Street.  Residents hear that there is an accident here almost weekly.  Within the past year alone, there has been at least 5 personal injury accidents at this intersection.  In the spring of 2022, blinking lights were added above the stop signs after several complaints of crashes and accidents.  Residents still don’t think it’s enough.  Back in 2022, a pastor from Charlotte was killed at this intersection.  The real question is why hasn’t a stop light been added here along with rumble strips.  This would certainly reduce the amount of accidents!

Main and State Street (42°30’33.4″N 84°39’21.5″W) Eaton County, Michigan

The intersection of Main and State Street in Eaton Rapids is also another dangerous intersection that has local residents concerned.  This area contributed to 10 accidents in 2019 alone and is still considered to be a danger zone.  According to the Eaton Rapids police, the intersection is under the jurisdiction of the Michigan Department of Transportation.  Because of this, they are unable to add any stop lights or signs that would provide extra safety.
